Generally speaking:

There is no universal definition of an emergency. Please contact us if your pet's life is in danger, for example, due to a car accident or a rapid and significant deterioration in its general condition. Bleeding wounds, severe pain, or poisoning also constitute an emergency. Please bear in mind that during emergency service hours at night and on weekends, fewer veterinarians and staff are available, and you may experience waiting times.

Please understand that for treatments that also extend into the normal consultation hours to be transferred, as there is no time available in the emergency service.

What constitutes an emergency?

• If your rabbit is lying on its side and gasping for air – then this is an extreme emergency.
• If your cat has been trying to urinate for a few hours or days and it's only trickling or nothing coming out at all, then this is an extreme emergency for our emergency service in Karlsruhe!
• If your dog repeatedly assumes the prayer position and is obviously in abdominal pain, and belongs to breeds prone to gastric torsion (Weimaraners, German Shepherds, etc.) – then this is an extreme emergency requiring our emergency service!
• If your pet has had diarrhea for three days and it's 9:30 pm on Saturday night, then unfortunately this is not an emergency.

In case of an emergency involving your pet, please always call one of the listed telephone numbers first so that your case can be coordinated in the best possible way!
