The field of surgery is diverse and deals with diseases in all regions of the body that can be treated surgically. In veterinary medicine, a distinction is usually made between two main groups: soft tissue surgery and orthopedic surgery.
To Soft tissue surgery Abdominal surgery encompasses procedures in the abdominal region, such as castrations or cesarean sections, tumor removal, foreign body removal, intestinal intussusception, or gastric torsion. Thoracic surgery (procedures in/on the chest) is frequently necessary after traumatic injuries or in cases of tumors. This also touches upon areas of trauma surgery. Reconstructive or plastic surgery refers to the treatment of major injuries following bite wounds or burns.
To the area of Bone surgery and orthopedic Surgery These include, on the one hand, procedures on bones such as fracture treatment, and on the other hand, damage to ligaments and joints such as a cruciate ligament tear. Since such injuries are frequently caused by trauma, extensive damage to soft tissues and muscles is also common.
All procedures are performed under anesthesia tailored to the specific needs of the case. General anesthesia, or full anesthesia, refers to a reversible state of unconsciousness (hypnosis), muscle relaxation (immobilization), and pain relief (analgesia) induced by anesthetics. Local anesthesia, on the other hand, limits the complete elimination of pain sensation to specific regions of the body through the reversible blockage of nerve conduction following the application or injection of local anesthetics/analgesics.
Tooth and Co.
Oral diseases are among the most common problems in dogs, cats, and small pets. These diseases hardly differ from those in humans – periodontitis, tooth fractures, tooth resorption, oral inflammation, and tumors. However, none of the affected animals can draw attention to their condition as readily as humans. Dogs, cats, and small pets often have to cope with a variety of painful and debilitating illnesses for extended periods unless thorough veterinary care is provided.

For this purpose, we have special equipment (e.g., a straight bur with integrated light) on our dental unit, which is used for precise, safe dental correction in the small oral cavities of these pets with great and lasting success.
